The lab consists of three testing rooms: a [https://wiki.uio.no/hf/multiling/index.php/Category:Video_Studio video studio], an [https://wiki.uio.no/hf/multiling/index.php/Category:EEG_room EEG room], and an eyetracking room. In addition, the lab has a control room, a waiting area and a data processing office. All testing rooms have camera(s) and ceiling-mounted microphones supervised from the control room.

The Socio-Cognitive Laboratory is a hub for research questions and methodologies from different strands of linguistics such as psycholinguistics and sociolinguistics. It provides tools and technology to study online processing of languages (e.g. via EEG and eyetracking) and opens up possibilities for combining existing and novel methods to explore multilingualism in various groups of speakers, such as infants and adult language learners, speakers of minority languages, and patients with language loss.
