Access to the department's HPC resources
We have our HPC resources on the UiO HPC cluster. It is somewhat expensive, and there is of course never enough resources for everyone to run as big models as they would like.
Any Geofag employee or student can get HPC access, just ask the IT group. Our scientist finding employment elsewhere and still wanting to use Geofag HPC equipment, should ask for "guest researcher"-status (form is here). If publishing without a Geofag coauthor an acknowledgement for using Geofag equipment would be appreciated. In the absense of a guest researcher agreement HPC access through Geofag will be revoked. Supervisors should keep in mind that very large HPC runs aren't required for students doing their master's thesis. Projects requiring a lot of HPC resources should ask for a NOTUR HPC quota. |
