TITLE: Mobile Phone Security

ABSTRACT: Lately, smartphones have outclassed PCs both in numbers and usage and this trend is still continuing. Unfortunately, together with the popularity came also the malicious attacks. Indeed, the mobile phone is now more than ever exposed because it has become an inseparable companion of each individual carrying valuable information, which can be exploited economically. Furthermore, both the awareness of the danger and the countermeasures are still quite limited. This talk will clarify the threats that smartphones are exposed to and present some of the countermeasures.


SPEAKER: Do van Thanh, Telenor & NTNU

BIO: Do Van Thanh obtained his MSc in Electronic and Computer Sciences from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology and his PhD in Informatics from the University of Oslo. In 2000 after 7 years R&D at Norsk Data and 10 years at Ericsson he joined Telenor R&D. He is in charge of Identity Management activities in Telenor. He holds also a professorship at the Department of Telematics at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in Trondheim. He is author of over 150 publications at international conferences and journals. He is also inventor of 22 patents and a dozen of pending ones.
