Tutorial 4: Making filters that include more data series
One of the many problems we have encountered in Anzo for the Web appears when using filters on graphs. If I want to filter selected years, and have bars showing values from two data series, one of the series disappears whenever I add a filter. Here is one solution, a solution we are not too happy with however.

Step 1: Edit the ontology
We now have to introduce two classes in the SSB Data ontology (assuming you have followed Tutorial 2 and 3), namely a class for municipalities, and a class for quarters. Since this ontology diverges from the last one so much, I suggest making a new from scratch thus avoiding some of the small bugs in Anzo for Excel.

Step 1.1: Making the new classes
• Make a new Ontology, for instance, “SSB Data”. If you have one from before named just that, delete it, and use another Identifier for the new one.
• Add the classes Kindergarten coverage and Sick Leave.
• Add the classes Municipality and Quarter as well, in the same ontology.
• Edit Kindergarten coverage and Sick Leave, and make Municipality and Quarter as their base class! OBS! Do not use the classes from Geography and Time period ontologies!

Step 1.2: Making the properties
• Add a property named Municipality in the class Municipality, with the range set to the Municipality-class in the Geography-ontology!
• Add a property named Quarter in the class named Quarter, with the range set to the Quarter-class in the Geography-ontology!
• Add a property named Kindergarten coverage in the class named Kindergarten coverage, with the range set to double.
• Add three properties named Men sick leave, Women sick leave and Both sick leave, with it’s ranges set to double.
The result should look something like this:

Step 2: Uploading your data!
The steps for uploading data for Municipalities and Quarters are similar to Tutorial 2.
The Kindergarten coverage type and the Sick leave type have now access to year, quarter, municipality and county via the inherent Quarterl and Municipality base classes. This makes all the differences when filtering!

Step 2.1: Uploading Kindergarten Coverage
• Go to the correct spreadsheet and select Link the active workbook.
• Choose the correct data-set.
• Choose the correct data-type, Kindergarten coverage below SSB Data.
• For Municipality, double-click Municipality, click Name, and hook on Search on Quarter.
• For year, double click Quarter, double click Year, select Year and hook on Search on Year.
• For the Value, go back and double click Kindergarten coverage.
• Click Upload.

Step 2.2: Uploading Sick leave
• Go to the correct spreadsheet and select Link the active workbook.
• Choose the correct data-set.
• Choose the correct data-type, Sick leave below SSB Data.
• Make sure to search on municipality Identifying number and name and Year and quarter.

Step 3: Setting up a Anzo view
This should also be familiar by now.
Set up a view based on Municipalities, where women and men sick leave are in bars, and kindergarten coverage are a line. You can now filter by years and counties without losing data from one of the series!
You can still not filter quarters, since kindergarten coverage does not have any data on quarters.

Some great pictures to end this tutorial. Here we are using filters to show Municipalities within selected counties. We could of course filter years as well, if we had more data of years in the Excel sheets.

What would be very awesome to do next, is getting a time dimension to the graphs! We do not know if this is a possibility in Anzo on the Web ...
