Required Safety Equipment

Hazards

Operational Safety

  • Do not use solder containing lead.
  • Do not use the soldering station unless you know how to solder.
  • Do not exceed 370 degrees Celsius on the soldering iron.
  • Use the fume extractor
  • Use safety glasses.
  • Do not leave the soldering iron while it is turned on. It reheats quickly so don't be lazy!
  • Keep your work area tidy.
  • Turn of the soldering iron after use.
  • Wash your hands after use.


Standard Operating Procedure

  • Turn on the Weller fume extractor
  • Place the fume extractor hood such that it can displace the soldering gasses.
  • Ensure that soldering temperature is set to between 350 and 370 degrees Celsius. Higher temperature will result in more gasses and increased spray hazard.
  • Use safety glasses!
  • Solder your thing.
  • Turn of the soldering iron when you are done.
  • Turn of the fume extractor.
  • Clean up after you.
  • Wash your hands.

Desoldering

At Sonen we have two ways of desoldering. Using a desoldering pump or using wick.

Not enough hands?

We are aware that most humans do not have three or more hands. Feel free to use our third hand tool.
