Sick Leave
If you are feeling sick and potentially contagious, NCMM encourages you to stay at home out of respect for your coworkers.
- Self certified sick leave → All employees at UiO can take self certified sick leave for themselves or to stay home with sick children.
- Doctor's sick leave → You are required to visit a doctor and obtain a medical certificate if your sick leave lasts beyond the days for which you are entitled to self-certify.
- Sick child or child minder → You have right to family care leave.
Mental health
In academia and in life, mental health challenges, including anxiety and depression, are prevalent. If you find yourself at immediate danger, including, but not limited to, self-harm, please seek emergency services. Some help could be provided through the UiO Occupational Health Service Unit.
Pregnancies
During pregnancies, some operations in the laboratory might be harmful for an unborn child. The first trimester of a pregnancy is critical, and some chemicals and operations may be associated with increased risk in this period. If you are pregnant or are trying to conceive, please contact our HSE coordinator Sissel Eikvar or Occupational Health services for advice.
Ergonomics
The Occupational Health Service Unit assists with advice, guidance and mapping for good workplace ergonomics.
Occupational hygiene
Occupational hygiene is the measurement, risk assessment and control of risk in the biological, chemical or the physical work environment.
Confidentiality
All health services at UiO and in Norway, have to confirm to strict rules of confidentiality. This also goes for NCMMs HSE coordinator and NCMMs safety deputy.
